The Museum of Science and Industry is one of the largest museums in the city. Built in 1893, the building was first known as the Palace of Fine Arts for the World's Columbian Exposition. In 1933, the building was renamed and opened has the Museum of Science and Industry. With over 2,000 exhibits, the museum has been a tourist attraction for 90 years. One of the first hands on exhibits in the museum was the Coal Mine. On the lower level of the Museum, there's an exhibit called "Yesterdays Main Street". In that exhibit its a Replica of old Chicago in the 20th century. It includes, lamp fixtures, fire hydrants, restaurants, shops and even an old Walgreens. The Museum of Science and Industry has been one of the most visited places in Chicago. It a great place to take the kids to enjoy a day of learning about Chicago's History. There is also certain days where you can enjoy the museum for free. The Museum of Science and Industry is the place for the Innovators of Tomorrow.
